What is the Color of the Year 2024?

Global Color trend forecasters looked into the cultural and design ambiance to foretell the palettes that will dominate 2024. One of them is the Peach Fuzz or Pantone code 13-1023, which is the color of the year 2024. Speaking on the color, Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of Pantone Color Institute, shared:

“In seeking a hue that echoes our innate yearning for closeness and connection, we chose a color radiant with warmth and modern elegance. A shade that resonates with compassion, offers a tactile embrace, and effortlessly bridges the youthful with the timeless.”

Expect to experience an explosion of peach fuzz-colored items this year. From makeup to clothes, hair, interior decor, and even films, etc., this hue will dominate the year 2024. We saw something similar happen last year. Pantone’s prediction for the Color of the Year 2023, Viva Magenta, permeated almost all industries including the film world.

With the buzz around the Barbie movie, brands and style influencers jumped on the trend, creating content and outfits that paid homage to the deep pink color. It became an unending craze that bolstered Pantone’s authority as a color institute and trendsetter. So don’t be surprised if you start seeing peach fuzz almost everywhere you go.

This year, some fashionistas will embrace bold colors while others will opt for neutrals and pastels. And while there are no rules, here’s what to expect in the color palette of 2024.

Peach Fuzz

This list won’t be complete without the 2024 color of the year. So, permit the repetition; it’s actually for emphasis. This color sits between pink and orange. It’s a soothing color that will be the highlight of any subtle yet chic wardrobe. Start by wearing dresses or shoes in this color. You can also incorporate it as a hair color, eye shadow, blush, lipstick, and other beauty elements.

Porcelain White as 2024 Color Trends

White is a timeless color. From bridal dresses to chic statement pieces, this color exudes class and opulence. We saw a handful of it on the runway as luxury designers like Saint Laurent gave a modern twist to its 1967 Saharienne jacket by transforming it into tailored shirts and trousers. Similarly, Valentino showcased cut-out party dresses while Standing Ground presented evening dresses embedded with beads for a celestial appeal.

Millennial Pink

It’s time to give the Barbie pink a break and hop on a softer version—millennial pink. It’s a soft pink hue that trended in 2015. It was also the color of the year 2016 alongside serenity (a shade closer to baby blue). And now, it’s back again. Otherwise known as Rose Quartz, this is a muted dusty pink color that connotes strength. Since fashion and interior designers embraced it quickly, the color earned the sobriquet ‘millennial pink.’

Metallic Silver

Silvers are more of a staple than a trend. And like every staple, they seldom go out of style. Metallic and shimmering silver skirts, dresses, and tops were common on the spring/summer ’24 catwalks. And as 2024 progresses, expect to see head-to-toe looks in this shade.

Liquid Gold as 2024 Color Trends

Similarly, it rained gold during major SS24 shows. The color took on a sleeker, and liquid look on the runway with Ralph Lauren, Alberta Ferretti, Vivienne Westwood, etc., showing different ways to add a Midas touch to your wardrobe.

Pistachio

This yellowish-green hue is a vivid but mellow color inspired by the pistachio nut. Expect to see more of this shade during spring. It’s the perfect pop of color for your eveningwear as it flatters any skin tone with its soft hues.

Forest Green

Green may be a bold color, but when it comes as forest hues, know for sure it’ll be calming, just like nature. Forest Green was a hit during SS24 runway shows. The color was showcased as workwear, outerwear, and eveningwear. Incorporate it into your wardrobe by rocking it as an ensemble or mixing it with neutrals or bold colors.

Almost Navy Blue

Have you ever looked at a fabric and swore it was black only to look closely to see it’s actually…navy blue? If yes, there’s a high chance that the color was almost navy.

This is a deep shade of blue that looks almost navy. It has a tad more pigmentation than your regular navy blue. In addition, it pairs well with contrasting colors like yellow, orange, and red.

Cherry Red

Bright reds trended in 2023 and still found their way into the color trends for 2024. But this time around, designers have tweaked it by incorporating them in deeper tones. So, don’t be surprised when you go shopping for blazers,  leather skirts, pencil skirts, sweaters, and striking accessories and find them in deep cherry red.

Sky Blue as 2024 Color Trends

2024 will experience an influx of soft shades and sky/powder blue is one of them. It’s one color that suits all seasons whether summer or winter. Also, it’s a soothing hue to incorporate into your bridal wardrobe if you want something light yet blue.

Pastel Lilac

Pastels were a major color among SS24 collections, but the dominant hue among them was lilac/ lavender. It trended last year and will continue to be among the color trends for 2024. It’s a seasonless hue you can wear all year long.

Canary Yellow

This bright yellow hue is an easy way to add a burst of color and vibrancy to your outfit. It also helps to boost your mood even on a gloomy day. You can rock it as an all-yellow ensemble for a monochromatic look or use it as a pop of color to an otherwise subdued look.

2024 Color Trends are a Must-Wear this Season

Colors are more than eye sensations. They’re a language that helps with self-expression. Your go-to colors say a lot about your personality. For instance, if you’re known for wearing black and other subdued colors, you’ll be seen as a lover of minimalism or subtle elegance. But if bright colors are your thing, then you love to make a bold style statement.

These colors are a forecast from what walked the spring/summer ‘24 runways. If looking chic is your goal for this year, your best bet is to embrace these colors as clothes, shoes, bags, and other accessories. They’ll come in handy when it’s time to create trendy, mind-blowing outfits.

Writing has always been a part of me. From writing stories as a young child to studying Communication Arts in the university, it has always been more than a medium of expression to me.

And then one day, I found myself toeing the path of an entrepreneur and becoming a fashion enthusiast. This made me develop an interest in content marketing and copywriting which I've been chasing alongside my fashion career.

That aside, when I'm not sharing style articles, selling with stories, or sketching fashion-forward pieces for Ria Kosher, you'll find me telling wild stories that always come with a twist.
