Nigerian fashion brand, Semande recently released its Spring/Summer 2020 collection tagged ‘Like Play, Like Play‘ —a Nigerian pidgin English expression that translates to “just like that” describing playfulness, humour and an element of surprise.
The lookbook evokes a feeling of nostalgia as it is a throwback to the 80s Nigerian childhood. The collection drew inspiration from the African Barbie (The Clonette doll) which was the desire of every girl child who grew up in the 1980s.
It features a wide range of bright colours, such as orange stripes, fuchsia pants and turquoise blazers.
Like play, like play is a colourful and playful collection that brings together the elegance of the 1980’s fashion while embedding the brand’s signature traditional western Nigerian silhouettes.
