Things to Avoid if You Want Your Hair to Grow Well

Go through this list carefully. You may be guilty of one or two. Then make amends immediately.

1. Wearing Hairstyles that Cause Hair Loss

Tight Braids and other hairstyles that lead to hair loss (traction alopecia) aren’t good for your hair. They pull your hair from the roots and break it eventually. When you keep wearing them, this means you don’t care about the health of your hair.

To prevent hair loss, avoid tight hairstyles by all means and go for protective hairstyles that foster hair growth.

2. Excessive Use of Heat Tools

Best styling equipment helps you achieve those great hairstyles. However, you should always remember that too much usage of heat equipment weakens the life of your hair and hampers hair growth. It makes your hair dry, brittle and leads to breakage. If you want to heat-style your hair, let it be done occasionally with the heat at the lowest. This way, you reduce your chances of suffering from the disadvantages.

3. Stressing Yourself

Stress does affect your hair. In fact, it has been found that there are three types of hair loss linked to stress: telogen effluvium, trichotillomania and alopecia areata.

Hence, for the sake of your overall wellbeing, avoid anything that stresses you out. Eat healthily and get enough rest too. It’s okay to be stressed once in a while — it’s part of life. But when your stress level is high, that means it has become a regular thing. Stress affects the growth phase of your hair. You may want to make adjustments right away.

4. Drying Your Hair Wrong

After shampooing your hair, what do you do? Dry it, right? This is good but how do you dry your hair? Perhaps, you use a towel to rub around your hair. Cool. But that’s not the correct way to dry your hair.

First, you have to ensure that you are using a cotton towel to dry your hair. If you don’t have one, settle for an old t-shirt. Do not rub your hair with the towel. Instead, simply squeeze excess water out. And don’t comb your hair while it’s wet unless you’re using a wide-tooth comb.

5. Adding Chemicals All the Time to Your Hair

If you’re guilty of dyeing, relaxing or perming your hair often, you should stop. These habits damage your hair by hampering its growth. It becomes worse when you don’t use them the right way. Hence, to avoid this, you either avoid using chemicals on your hair often or if you must use them, meet a professional to apply for you.

To ensure you don’t keep doing what to avoid if you want your hair to grow well, stick to the right hair care routine. And most importantly, make sure whatever you are using or doing to your hair is for its betterment.

Writing has always been a part of me. From writing stories as a young child to studying Communication Arts in the university, it has always been more than a medium of expression to me.

And then one day, I found myself toeing the path of an entrepreneur and becoming a fashion enthusiast. This made me develop an interest in content marketing and copywriting which I've been chasing alongside my fashion career.

That aside, when I'm not sharing style articles, selling with stories, or creating fashion-forward pieces for Ria Kosher, you'll find me telling wild stories that always come with a twist.
