Ebuka Obi-Uchendu: A Man of Style

If Ebuka’s style has never left you awe-inspired, then you probably do not like good things. This lawyer and media personality sure knows how to breathe life into every outfit and keep you gaping till a fly passes by. His enchanting demeanour and enthralling looks, as seen on TV and social media, make him one of the most talked-about celebrities/fashion influencers every week. Thanks to the Big Brother Naija reality TV show and the fashion designers who cook up his outfits, we just can’t get enough of Ebuka Obi-Uchendu.

Born in 1982, Ebuka is one fashion influencer whose stylistic imprint has been recorded in the annals of Nigerian fashion. It is as though he has some allegiance to made-in-Nigeria wears as Ebuka never ceases to strut in Nigerian fashion designs to any show or event. His affiliation with ace fashion designers like Ugo Monye, Mai Atafo, Orange Culture, Tokyo James, Vanskere, David Wej, etc., explains the reason for his loud fashion statement every time he dresses up for an event. Little wonder he stole the game during Banky and Adesua’s wedding —the memory is still indelible.

Ebuka Obi-Uchendu is a graduate of law and holds several degrees from institutions such as the University of Abuja, Washington College of Law, American University. His big break came in 2006 when he went in as one of the housemates of the first edition of Big Brother Naija. Although he finished eighth place, he won a lot of endorsement deals which toppled his growth in show biz.

Ebuka has anchored a lot of shows besides BBN which he began hosting in 2017.  Before the 2011 general elections in Nigeria, he hosted the first ever presidential debate focused on youth issues, which was broadcast live across Nigeria. Prior to that, he hosted  Friend or Foe and the Glo Show on NTA. In 2013, he was announced the new host of the Rubbin’ Minds TV show on Channels TV. Also in 2013, he alongside Lamide Akintobi and Zainab Balogun co-hosted The Spot, a show on EbonyLife TV.  In 2014, he alongside Arit Okpo co-hosted Naija Politics,  a discussion programme about politics in Nigeria still on EbonyTV. In 2016, he became the host of Men’s Corner, Nigeria’s first all-male TV talk show.

If you know Ebuka for compering alone, then it’s about time you did away with such assumption. This charismatic fashion lover is also a writer. For four years, he had a weekly column called ‘Contrast’ with Thisday Newspaper and has written for other publications including What’s New & Ace Magazines. He has also written content for online publications such as YNaija, 360Nobs, StyleVitae among others.

Ebuka Obi-Uchendu is a remarkable husband and a father of two. His stylishness stands him out from the crowd and leaves his fan base teeming with new intakes every day. So much for being a man of style.

Writing has always been a part of me. From writing stories as a young child to studying Communication Arts in the university, it has always been more than a medium of expression to me.

And then one day, I found myself toeing the path of an entrepreneur and becoming a fashion enthusiast. This made me develop an interest in content marketing and copywriting which I've been chasing alongside my fashion career.

That aside, when I'm not sharing style articles, selling with stories, or creating fashion-forward pieces for Ria Kosher, you'll find me telling wild stories that always come with a twist.
