9 Natural Tips on How to Get Shiny Hair

Does your hair look dry, dull and frizzy and you want it to shine even brighter than diamonds?  If yes, it most definitely means you need to know how to get shiny hair. Applying chemical products isn’t the way out. You have to first work on making your hair healthy before looking at the natural ways to have the shiniest hair ever. 1. Eat Healthy Foods

Your hair and skin are a reflection of your eating habits. If you regularly have an unhealthy diet, it will tell on your skin and your hair. Hence, if you want healthy hair, you have to eat well and stay hydrated.

Eat proteinous foods like beef, fish, chicken, egg, etc., as the hair is made from protein and when there is a deficiency in protein, it suffers. You should also eat vegetables and fatty foods such as avocados as they contain fats capable of making your hair shiny and full.

2. Avoid Shampooing More Often

When you wash your hair often, you reduce the natural oil (sebum) that keeps your hair healthy. To prevent this, always shampoo your hair once a week.

3. Hydrate Regularly

Drink enough water to increase your hair’s sheen and lustre. You should drink at least eight glasses of water every day and consume fruits rich in water such as watermelon, strawberry, cucumber, apple, etc.

4. Protect Your Hair

When you’re spending so much time in the scorching sun, you should wear a hat or any headwear to protect the sun from damaging your hair. Also, don’t go into the swimming pool without covering your hair as the water contains chlorine which dries our hair. However, if you go inside the water without wearing a swim cap, wash your hair immediately. Furthermore, don’t go out with a wet hair when the weather is cold.

5. Use Natural Products on Your Hair

Too much of chemical products can ruin your hair over time. You should ensure your shampoo, conditioner and other hair products do not contain sulfates, silicone and alcohol as these chemicals can rid your hair of its natural oil making it dry all the time. They also can lead to your hair becoming frizzy.

1. Use an Avocado Hair Mask

Avocado helps nourish your hair if used regularly as a mask. It contains natural fats that help you get shiny hair. To use, mash an avocado into a mask then wet your hair. Afterwards, spread the avocado from the root of your hair to the tip and let it stay for about 15 minutes. Then shampoo your hair and rinse with cold water.  Cold water helps lock in moisture in your hair as it naturally constricts pores and seals the hair cuticles.

2. Use an Egg Mask

Next on how to get shiny hair is using an egg mask. Egg contains protein which strengthens your hair if used as a mask. The yolk adds moisture to your hair and prevents it from looking dull while the white removes any buildup or residue in your hair. To use, break an egg into a small bowl then wet your hair. Afterwards, pour the egg mask over your hair and use a wide-tooth comb to comb your hair making sure the egg gets to your tips. Let it sit for 15 minutes before shampooing and rinsing with cold water.

You can also mix egg, avocado, honey and olive oil to achieve the same results quickly.

3. Minimise Heat Styling Your Hair

Heat styling can wear out the hair cuticles making it dry and prone to breaking. You should air-dry your hair instead because tools such as straightening iron give you dry hair in the long run.

4. Use Natural Oil

Natural oil such as olive oil, coconut oil, Argan oil,  castor oil, almond oil, etc., protects your hair from damage and as well increases its shine. For best results, use when your hair is not wet.
